2009-2010 Cross-Country Championship details.
* Denotes single-sex events. Only male runners will be awarded points in the St Andrew's Hospice 10k.
The Championship consists of a series of 14 nominated races available to each road runner, in which points are scored according to finishing times. There are separate male and female championships.
In each race 10 points are awarded to the fastest male and female MAC members to finish, nine points for second and so on, down to one point for those finishing 10th and over.
Each runner’s eight best results count towards their final total, with the addition of any bonus points. If an athlete competes in eight or fewer events, all completed races count towards their total.
There is an option to accrue bonus points by participating in MAC team events, or by completing a marathon (more details below).
In the event of a points draw for first place at the end of the season, the winner will be decided by which of the relevant runners achieves the faster time in the November Time Trial (NB: time, not finishing position).
Season DurationThe season runs from February 1 to October 31 2009 (inclusive).
EligibilityOnly fully paid-up members at the time of starting each race will be eligible for points. 2008 memberships will be deemed as lapsed if not renewed by March 31 2009.
For point-scoring purposes, Road Runners must be a minimum of 17 years of age on February 1 2009 (born on or before 01.02.92).
In order to qualify for points in each race, athletes must wear an official MAC vest or training top. The only exception will be in marathons where athletes are free to choose what they wear.
Points will not be awarded if an athlete fails to finish a race.
MarathonsAthletes completing a marathon during the season duration (February 1 to October 31) will be awarded five bonus points towards their championship total. Only one marathon per season will be awarded points.

Congratulations to Alan Tait and Jo Clark, who're the club's men's and women's cross-country champions this year.
They top their respective league tables after the third event, the Scottish National Cross-Country Championships at Falkirk.
Once again, the Falkirk course - 12,000m for men and 8,000m for women - proved challenging on a wintry day.
Michael Wedlock was the club's second man home, followed by William Martin.
Phyllis Hands was behind Jo, with Clare Barr and Elaine Jamieson crossing third and fourth respectively.
The final tables are here: Men and Women.Seven athletes competed in the West District Cross-Country Championships in what was described as "near perfect" weather at Irvine on Saturday.
Five women - Jo Clark (26mins 36secs), Phyllis Hands (28mins), Clare Barr (29mins), Gayle Tait (29mins 39secs) and Elaine Jamieson (30mins 27secs) - tackled the 6.7km course which had some sharp inclines and descents along with a few tricky twists.
Phyllis came a cropper on one of the turns, resulting in a grazed shoulder. Benny Hands was one of only two MAC men who ran and he pulled up with a calf injury at the start of the second of three laps.
Overall, the women were ninth team.
Alan Tait was the other male runner, clocking a finish time of 38mins 25secs.
Full results here.
The first points have been awarded following the Lanarkshire AAA Cross-Country Championships at Drumpellier last weekend.
The MAC Cross-Country Championships will be decided over three events and prizes awarded to the first, second and third males and females.
Points are cumulative - 10 points for first, nine for second.
The West Districts and Nationals have closing dates. No entries on the day.
See the Scottish Athletics website for more details.
