It was noted that both Chris Love and Margaret Love had never attended a meeting of the committee since their appointment and thereafter agreed that the secretary would speak to them and ask if they intended to remain on the committ ee or if they intended to resign. Club Kit, consisting mainly of ladies and gents shorts, to the value of \'a3 1295 had been passed to him by the previous secretary. It was proving impossible to sell these at the previous price of \'a315 per garment. After discussion, it was agreed that the best way forward was to sell the items at the rate of \'a3 5 per garment. Thereafter, an attempt would be made to sell some shorts at the Ladies 6k event at the rate of \'a33 per pair, with \'a31 per pair being donated to St Andrew\rquote s Hospice. \par b. The website (www.Motherwellac.com) was now up and running. A forum would be established to enable updates to be carried out with ease. \par c. Michael Valentine, a sports therapist in Carluke had expressed an interest to be associated with the club. He is willing to offer all club members a consultation at the rate of \'a315 with follow up treatments at the rate of \'a3 14. It would also be possible to ask him to travel with th e club to specific events or block book an hour of treatment for club members. The committee agreed the association would be worthwhile and that KM should finalise the arrangements. It was also agreed his name and contact details would be placed on the we bsite and on the leaflets when a new batch was printed. \par d. The Boathouse Gym had asked that we be discreet about the deal, which had been struck, as other members of the gym were disgruntled. \par e. The Club Future folder which had been received by KM at the last meeting included a first aid pack. In recognition of the fact that JT is a member of the St Andrew\rquote s Ambulance, it was agreed he would be best placed to implement any obligations of the club in this respect. The pack was therefore handed to him. JT agreed to be the First Aid Officer for the club. \par e. The quarterly newsletter had been issued to all members with a request for a junior member\rquote s parent to attend committee meetings voluntarily. Such a volunteer had not been forthcoming. \par f. An e-mail address had been set up for the welfare officer who could be accessed through the website or Microsoft Outlook Express. The committee agreed with him that the club should remain as a member of the council and agreed to pay the \'a310 membership fee. \par h. KM requested that all coaches give him their membership numbers so that the necessary return can be made to Scottish Athletics. This is required because a fee is levied to the club depending on the number of members. \par \par 2. }{\b\f28\fs22\ul\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 Treasurer\rquote s Report }{\f28\fs22\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 - \par \par Patricia Allen (PA) reported on the financial situation of the club. The balance in the bank was \'a33133. 81 as at the date of the meeting. Income from the Road Running section had been steady and the income from the track and field section had increased since the last meeting. The total income since the last meeting was \'a31057.30 and the expenditure was \'a3221.43. \par Two bills had been received in respect of the hire of school halls. Both were reminders with the date for final payment being imminent. One was in the name of Margaret Love, which the committee agreed should be paid but the other was in the name of Patrick Lynch who was not known to anyone. It was agreed this bill would not be paid. The committee was disappointed to note that there were still some former members of the club, who still attended sessions that had not paid a membersh ip fee and that there were people attending sessions of the club that had never joined. Gordon Murray (GM) was asked by the committee to speak sympathetically to these people and encourage them to join. JT undertook to give GM an up to the minute and accu rate list of the membership position. \par \par 4. }{\b\f28\fs22\ul\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 Road Running Section}{\f28\fs22\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 : - \par \par JT reported that this section of the club was thriving. New people were attending every session and coming back! The Road Running Championship was well under way. The championship consis ted of serious races as well as the club handicap, which gave everyone the opportunity to gain points. The main discussion had been about social events to encourage membership and fundraising. The discussion included a club barbecue at Chatelherault in early June and an open day at Wishaw track in August. The subject of raising funds by bag packing in a local supermarket was also mentioned. \par The meeting highlighted the need for closer liaison between the two sections and the committee undertook to investigate ways of achieving this. The attendance of the r oadrunners at the track on a Saturday would help and the possibility of having the track and field section meet at the Boathouse Gym on occasions was also put forward. \par Four coaches are on track to attend courses over the weekend of 30 April and 01 May with follow up sessions and exams in June. This would boost the coaching staff and increase the caliber of coaches as some were participating in level 2 coaching courses. It was agreed this could only benefit the club and that the club should meet the cost of these courses with recovery being made from the sports council grant when or if that was received. \par JH undertook to hold a further coaches\rquote meeting early in July with sufficient arrangements being made as to time and relevant agenda. \par \par 6. }{\b\f28\fs22\ul\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 Sponsorship and Funding}{\f28\fs22\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 : - \par \par In the absence of RB it was noted that we were waiting for feedback from the application for a grant for equipment and funding for coaches\rquote training. \par }{\b\f28\fs22\ul\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 \par }{\f28\fs22\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 7. }{\b\f28\fs22\ul\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 Welfare Officer\rquote s Report}{\f28\fs22\lang1033\langfe1033\langnp1033 : - \par \par PH reported that UK athletics were still t o intimate the Scottish contact in respect of disclosure for all adults dealing with children within each club. To date we had complied with the instructions of the Scottish Athletics by appointing a Welfare Officer. The club would have to amend the const itution at the AGM in October to include the welfare officer as a club official. \par The club would also have to appoint two people to verify the documents produced by those adults who were going forward for disclosure in order to avoid the necessity of tho se documents being sent away with the application.
