Place and date of birth: Bellshill, September 11, 1965
Your athletics history? I was a teenage sprinting sensation
in the 1980s running for Cambuslang Harriers, until I discovered women
and pubs. I'm unable to run at all now due to a series of back operations
and a few more dodgy discs so I'm stuck with coaching
How long? Last ran in the 1980s but have been with MAC
for two years after having to drag myself along with Lewis. Coach for
about 18 months
What do you enjoy most about running/athletics? Seeing
the kids develop and progress, especially when Scott reaches his dad's
targets and gets handsomely paid for it
Favourite race/event and PB: I used to enjoy both sprinting
and cross-country when I was a teenager. My 100m PB was 11.4 seconds
when I was 15 - I never competed beyond that age
Favourite food: Anything from the Taj Mahal in Hamilton,
provided it's got a minimum of four chilli ratings on the menu. And,
of course, Adrienne's home-made steak pie
Favourite holiday destination: I loved going to Rothesay
when I was a kid - to us that was extremely exotic. My first trip abroad
was when I was 22 and most of my holidays have been to popular package
resorts. If I had a choice I'd love to visit Moscow
Hobbies (apart from running/athletics): I love reading
- almost anything will do. Fiddling with computers is another passion
and playing Tiger Woods golf on the PS2
Lifetime's ambition: That everything I do makes my wife
and sons happy
